The dedication of Yamadou Hâvé
IA long time ago, the Peuhls, from the family of a famous chief named Diâdié, founded a village which they called Bambéro, named after a nearby mountain. The village gradually grew in importance and soon counted 333 arrows or warriors.
The Tomaranké (from the Medina region) took a dim view of the rapid prosperity of these newcomers and, driven by jealousy and greed, declared war on them.
The Peuhls were still few in number to resist so many enemies but, despite this, they resolved to put up the most fierce resistance. A marabout, named Malick Sy, who was traveling in the region, then came to Bambéro. He proposed to the Peuhls to prepare for them a grigri which would assure them victory despite their great numerical inferiority: “But,” he added, “you will have to subscribe to the condition that I am going to ask you… — Speak
! said the Peuhls.
— Here is my condition: you will attach this charm to the tip of an arrow. At the start of the fight, one of you, a member of Diâdié's family, one of your fellow citizens whom you love the most, will shoot the arrow into the middle of the enemies. He will be killed in the fight but, at this price, I guarantee you victory. »

VSEveryone then offered themselves for this mortal honor, but Malick Sy remained silent until a young man named Yamadou Hâvé offered himself.
Then the marabout declared: “This is the man I was waiting for!
— That's good, said Yamadou to the Peuhls, but since I offer myself for your salvation, I ask you to consent in your turn to my requests! »
There were four Fulani tribes there: the Diallo, the Diakhité, the Sidibé, the Sankaré. All gave their consent.
“The marabout,” Yamadou continued, “said that, by virtue of the talisman, I will die tomorrow for the salvation of my race. I'm ready but I have three children: two boys and a girl; the first is Ségo Dohi, the second Mamadou Dohi and the third Sané Dohi. Dear Peuhls, I entrust them and their children to you! I ask that their descendants command the Peuhls of Khasso. I wish they could marry women of your race. »
The Peuhls unanimously declared that it would be according to his wishes.
It was at the Tombi-Fara pond that the clash between the Malinké and the Peuhl occurred.
The fight had barely begun, Yamadou Hâvé rushed, arrow in hand, into the middle of the enemies to strike them to death. He fought valiantly and only fell when the Malinké fled. And the marabout's prediction was entirely fulfilled. The Peuhls achieved victory while their adversaries, having lost their king, were largely annihilated.

LPeace was thus assured for many years and the Peuhls paid their debt to the hero's children. They raised them with consideration. They made Ségo Dohi their king as soon as he came of age and maintained supreme power for his descendants.
