The Moon and the banana tree

HASIn the beginning, God created and placed on Earth one man and one woman.

One day he asked them:
“Which do you prefer, the death of the Moon or the death of the banana tree?”
— Lord, they said, we do not understand.
— Do you want to be like the Moon, which remains invisible every month for a few days, but then reappears, or do you prefer to be like a banana tree, which dies after giving its fruit? »
— Lord, explain to us what this means because we still don't understand!
— Well, here it is: the Moon continues to exist by itself, although it seems to die every month and come back to life after a few days, while the banana tree dies completely; but before dying, he gives birth to several offspring who succeed him. Choose what you prefer, because you have to decide for one thing or another. »
They thought a little, then they said:
“  Koezy Zanahary, we prefer to die like the banana tree, which leaves behind successors. »
It is since then, it is said, that men have died and left children to replace them.
