Dangerous adventures

The men were traveling. On the way, they stopped at some cannibals.
When they saw them at night, they began to rejoice, seized them all, and imprisoned them in iron cages, two by two in each cage.
Night and day, at every moment, they gave them food. When they were very fat, they ate three.
One night while the cannibals were sleeping, one of the prisoners, who was wise, looked for a way to get out with his companions.
When he had made a hole through which two men could escape, they all escaped.
The sound of iron woke up the people who started chasing them with their lions and snakes. They took them all back, except two, among whom was the wise one.
They managed to escape because, hearing the cannibals following their tracks, he had built a grass hut where they hid, so that no one saw them.
When their enemies were gone, they removed the grass and fell asleep. When he woke up, the wise man noticed that a lion had devoured his companion. He remained amazed and frightened until he came out of the lion's den and fled.
He saw a tent in the distance, towards which he headed; he saw a woman there who said to him: “Be welcome and well received. »
Then she invited him to sit on a mat, under which a hole was hidden. When the wise man sat down, the woman pulled the mat underneath, and the man fell into a well.

He remained there until the master of the tent arrived, carrying two men whose throats he had slain. His wife told him what had happened with the wise man and then added: “Go and kill him too, he is fatter than them. »
But the prisoner grabbed the master of the house by his long braids and killed him.
Counterfeiting his voice, he asked the woman to bring him up. She obeyed, believing it was her husband.
At the sight of the wise man, she was seized with terror. He forced him to hand over everything they had in terms of ornaments, money, finery, slaves, camels, sheep, and sheep.
She gave him all this and he was able to return to his family.
